Driver charged with DWI after hitting pedestrian, another vehicle

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Syracuse Police have charged a driver with DWI, among several other charges, after she hit a pedestrian near the 1500 block of Onondaga Avenue Friday afternoon.

According to police, 25-year-old Lori Sobotka was headed northbound on Onondaga Avenue when she drove up onto the sidewalk and hit a 39-year-old man.

The victim was taken to the hospital as a precaution with neck and back pain. He was not seriously hurt.

Police say Sobotka tried to drive way, but she hit another car, driven by 41-year-old woman from Syracuse. That woman was also transported to the hospital with back pain. She too, was not seriously hurt.

Sobotka has been charged with DWI, DWAI, criminal possession of a controlled substance, leaving the scene of a personal injury, driving on the sidewalk and following too closely. She is scheduled to appear in city court at a later date.
