Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The driver, who crashed a van through a utility pole early Sunday morning is facing DWI charges.
It happened just before 2 a.m. at the intersection of Arthur and Elliot Streets.
National Grid workers were called to repair the pole, forcing drivers to detour while Arthur Street was closed for several hours. Syracuse Police said there were no power outages due to the crash.
Witnesses on the scene told Newschannel 9 the driver took off running over a hill.
But, officers spotted Isaac Duffy, 42, of Syracuse and took him into custody after a brief chase.
Duffy is charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree, Driving While Intoxicated, Reckless Driving, and Resisting Arrest.
He was sent to the Onondaga County Justice Center to wait for a court appearance.
