FAYETTE, NY (WSYR-TV) - The Seneca County Sheriff's Office says two people with head injuries were taken to the hospital by helicopter, after a head-on crash in the town of Fayette.

The crash happened on State Route 96A and West River Road around 4:30 on Friday afternoon.

Deputies say the driver, 16-year old Gabriel Canino was on West Road when he failed to yield the right of way and was hit by another car.

Canino and his passenger, 30-year old Steven Young of Auburn had to be cut out of the car.

Canino was flown to Upstate Hospital and Young was flown to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

The driver of the other car was not hurt.

The sheriff's office reports that charges are pending and the crash is still under investigation.
