Drivers ticketed, one charged with DWI in snow plow crash
LAFAYETTE, NY (WSYR-TV) - Three people were sent to the hospital after a snow plow slammed into a pick-up truck on State Route 11 in Lafayette early Saturday morning.
State Police say 60-year old Michael Andrews was driving a State D.O.T plow and was coming from a salt garage. As he was turning onto State Route 11 from Moltion Road, investigators tell us Andrews crashed head-on with a pick up truck going the opposite direction.
Both Andrews and the driver of the pick-up truck, 22-year old Mitchell Sofranko, were taken to the hospital, along with a passenger in the truck.
Andrews and Sofranko have since been released from the hospital.
State Police say Sofranko's passenger was taken to the hospital with a possible hip fracture.
Andrews was issued a ticket for failure to yield the right of way. Sofranko has been charged with DWI and unsafe speed.
