Skaneateles (WSYR-TV) - A Skaneateles mansion that Federal prosecutors say was built with drug money has been auctioned off.

Syracuse apartment developer Cosimo Zavaglia won the auction with a winning bid of $1.55 million.

Neighbors of the residence on Skaneateles Lake say they’re excited to see the home sell.

“I hope whoever buys it makes use of what is. It's an absolute gorgeous piece of property,” said neighbor Fran Fish.

The man who built the home – Charles Blomquist III – is now serving time in Federal prison for trafficking drugs. As part of his plea deal, he had to give up the mansion, which was still under construction.

An additional $1 million may be needed to finish the home’s interior.
