Ducklings rescued after mother duck was hit by car on Onondaga Lake Parkway
Liverpool (WSYR-TV) -- A mother duck was hit along Onondaga Lake Parkway Friday night, prompting an all-out search for her babies.
Emergency crews arrived on scene at around 6:30 to help find the orphaned ducklings.
According to a firefighter on the scene, a witness who stopped to check on the duck discovered the ducklings began to scatter, as if looking for their mother. That’s when park rangers and fire crews were called in to assist.
Three ducklings have been rescued; several others scattered among the brush.
A responding officer will be taking the ducklings home tonight. Tomorrow, a wild life official will take over their care.
