WATERFORD, N.Y. (AP) - A more than 100-mile stretch of the Erie Canal is scheduled to reopen after being closed for two days because of high water levels caused by heavy rains earlier this week.

The state Canal Corp. says the canal from Lock E-2 in Waterford, near Albany, to Lock 22 at Sylvan Beach on Oneida Lake will reopen at noon Thursday.

That stretch of the waterway was shut down Tuesday after heavy rains and runoff raised the canal's water level from central New York to the Albany area.

The canal opened for the season on April 28.
