Evacuations underway in Frankfort and Ft. Plain along Otsquago Creek
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Law enforcement and emergency management officials have reported showers and thunderstorms producing life threatening flash flooding in the towns of Fort Plain, Ilion and Herkimer.
According to the National Weather Service, mandatory evacuations are currently underway in the towns of Frankfort and Fort Plain along the Otsquago Creek due to rapid water rises.
A mudslide has also been reported in progress.
Multiple road closures and road washouts have been reported.
In the village of Herkimer, the flood control dike along Bellinger Brook behind the Herkimer High School is failing according to the National Weather Service.
