Geddes (WSYR-TV) - Consumer confidence is up in New York. A new survey out today shows that Central New Yorkers have rallied in the last few months and feel better – overall – about the economy.

And if Central New York is on the road to recovery, consumer confidence at an RV show is a good indicator.

Organizers began feeling the pinch in 2007 before the economy fell through and, now, sales are speeding up again.

“Just from the start of this year – and the last quarter of 2012 – has been booming for us…shipments are way up,” said Kevin Bostrom of Camping World.

The survey says the sentiment is fragile and could be shaken by the anticipated debt ceiling debate, but New Yorkers are feeling more comfortable at the moment.

According to the Siena College survey, people are spending more on bigger purchases, cars, furniture, and computers – and that confidence is up 22 percent in Central New York.

Event organizers hope that the sentiment is evident at the RV show, which will run through this weekend at the Fairgrounds.
