Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A major child sex trafficking ring was broken up and over 100 children were rescued by the FBI.
Authorities conducted sweeps in 76 cities during Operation Cross Country, which took place over a three-day period.
According to officials, the largest number of children rescued where in Detroit, Milwaukee, Denver, New Orleans and San Francisco.
Federal officials say that many of the children were sold into prostitution online, at truck stops or on city streets.
They made 150 arrests and rescued 105 sexually exploited children.
Those arrested face charges ranging from federal and state charges including offenses related to human trafficking, coercion and commercial sex.
In addition, authorities made 129 seizures of cash, drugs, vehicles and firearms.
47 FBI divisions and more than 3,900 local, state and federal law enforcement officers took part in the operation.
