Camillus (WSYR-TV) -- Trying to even the score after last year’s crushing defeat by Camillus’ middle school teachers and staff on the basketball court for Family Fun Night, the Camillus Police Department recruited former SU basketball star Roosevelt Bouie.
Friday’s Family Fun Night got everyone fired up and the battle on the court really heated up. But did the teachers feel threatened by the cops’ big gun?
“I think they need to, not to talk trash, but I think we gave it to them pretty good last years and I’m sure they’ve been planning since last year to seek revenge on us,” said Camillus Middle School Teacher Steve Dunham.
Revenge set aside, police were also hoping to score points off the court.
“First of all, we're not in uniform and secondly, it's fun...we've got the parents here and we even have the kids playing tonight,” said Camillus Police Captain Steve Rotunno.
An assist for Hurricane Sandy victims and Family Fun Night raised more than $500 to help them recover. And it was another big victory for teachers and middle school staff as they beat the cops again by a score of 75-72.
