Father of missing Utica child arrested on burglary charges
Utica (WSYR-TV) – The father of a child who has been missing from his home in the city of Utica since May was arrested on unrelated burglary charges on Friday.
Meanwhile, dive teams are searching the Mohawk River for the missing child.
The search area is near Leland Avenue, where police have previously searched.
Police in Utica have scheduled a press conference to address the search at 1:30 p.m.
State Police charged 27-year-old Jevon Wameling of Jay Street in Utica with burglary in the second degree.
They say he entered a residence in the village of Oriskany and stole money and jewelry on at least one occasion.
He was processed at the Marcy State Police station and arraigned in Town of Floyd Court in lieu of $10,000 cash or $25,000 bond.
Police have been looking for Levon Wameling since he was reported missing by his father two weeks after he disappeared.
