Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Dozens gathered at the Newhouse School of Communications  on the SU hill Thursday to learn of the dangers of Hydrofracking, according to one film-maker.

Josh Fox screened his film "Gas Land," which he says shows the shocking effects of the natural gas drilling. Fox says he was inspired to make the film when a natural gas mining company offered he and his neighbors $100,000 for the right to drill on their land. He wanted to examine the issue before signing away his property, and says he was shocked by what he found. "Wherever the gas industry goes to drill the water gets contaminated, the air gets polluted, people's health starts to show signs that are very disturbing," said Fox.

A musical performance preceded the screening, and a discussion with the director followed.
