Final beams at Upstate University Hospital cancer center bear names of survivors
Syraucse (WSYR-TV) – A new cancer center under construction at Upstate University Hospital will have a special meaning for those whose lives have been affected by the disease.
Today, the final steel beams on the facility were put in place bearing the signatures of thousands of survivors.
The two steel beams will be part of the $85 million project as long as it stands.
With the beams in place, construction crews can begin closing off the outside of the building. Work on the interior will begin this summer.
The facility is slated to open next year.
The new center will provide high tech equipment for treating cancer in children and adults.
