Hector (WSYR-TV) -- There will be a taste of Central New York at Monday’s Presidential Inauguration. From Fingerlakes wine, to cheese from Cooperstown, Washington will get a sample of some of New York’s finest food and drink.

Local wineries are thrilled to be serving such powerful people. The 2010 Tierce Dry Riesling will be one of the wines served at the inauguration.

“It’s just really nice to have the region represented, especially with a variety, with a Riesling, that we do so well here,” said Red Newt Cellars owner David Whiting. “This is one of those events, where everyone is watching. That’s neat.”

Tierce was first made in 2004 and has won acclaim from international wine competitions and major wine magazines. It’s a unique blend of grapes from three different vineyards on Seneca Lake – Fox Run, Anthony Road and Red Newt.

And since they all work together to create the best product they can, they’re hoping there’s a message in a bottle.

“I’m really happy that maybe in some ways, it carries that message of collaboration to Washington, DC,” said Whiting.

The inauguration needs enough wine for about 200 people, so they’re sending eight cases (96 bottles) from the Fingerlakes to Washington, DC.
