Fire at old Camillus Cutlery building prompts boil water advisory for village residents
Camillus (WSYR-TV) -- The Onondaga County Water Authority (OCWA) has issued a boil water advisory for Village of Camillus residents.
The advisory was posted at around 6:30 p.m. Monday, as residents experienced a decrease in water pressure – and in some instances a complete loss of water – due to the massive firefighting effort at the former Camillus Cutlery Factory.
OCWA is coordinating with fire crews on site that have been busily switching their water flow from village hydrants to the creek near the factory to avoid impacting residents experiencing low or no flow water.
Additionally, OCWA crews are working to alleviate any air trapped in water mains that may affect water flow.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until further notice.
Fire crews will be on the scene throughout the night and into Tuesday morning.
