Fire damages J-D maintenance building
DeWitt (WSYR-TV) – Crews responded to a fire at the Jamesville-DeWitt School District maintenance building on Wednesday. The building is located near the high school.
Fire officials say no one saw the fire begin. As of 2 p.m., they had not determined the cause of the fire.
No one was inside the building when fire crews arrived and no one was injured during the incident.
Six to nine buses were inside the garage for routine maintenance. Most of the buses were parked in lots outside the building during the incident.
A fire wall kept the blaze contained to two bays, which suffered heavy damage. The rest of the building remained largely intact.
Officials say the incident should not affect students' dismissals.
The buildings and grounds supervisor helped firefighters at the scene by identifying what kinds of items were inside the facility at the time of the fire.
