Firefighter hurt battling blaze on East Division Street

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A Syracuse firefighter suffered an eye injury battling a blaze in the 500 block of East Division Street Tuesday.

Responding crews saw heavy smoke and flames pouring form the home. The home was vacant at the time and no one else was hurt, officials said.

Officials say the first floor of the home and an attic crawl space were heavily damaged in the fire. Two neighboring buildings were also damaged in the blaze.

Fire officials say this isn’t the first time the home has caught fire.

An investigation into what caused the fire is ongoing.
