Firefighters hand out free carbon monoxide detectors
Cicero (WSYR-TV)The law has been on the books for nearly two weeks, but firefighters say there are still some homeowners who don't have a carbon monoxide detector in their home.
On Saturday, the state's Firemen's Association and Home Depot teamed up to make sure everyone is following guidelines by handing out 175 free detectors within just 17 minutes at the Cicero store on Route 11.
“We've run a bunch of calls recently in which people have had them. It’s important because carbon monoxide can come from a number of different fuel sources in their homes,” said <objID>NEWS\00537956?version=1</objID><mosID>CCTMOS01SYR</mosID><mosAbstract>Ron Florczykowski , a firefighter.
Home Depot donated $10,000 to the Firemen's Association and the detectors have been distributed in Rochester, Albany and Long Island as well.
