Geddes, New York (WSYR-TV) - Giant splashes of color lit up the sky, leaving spectators in awe of this year's Fairgrounds fireworks show.
Hundreds packed the Fairgrounds, staking out spots in lawn chairs, on blankets or even the hoods of their cars to catch the display.
Two-thousand fireworks were set up at the fairgrounds. Crews started working on the display at around noon, Saturday.
In addition to the set up, crew members also checked the equipment, the wiring and made sure the racks were secure.
They also covered up some of the fireworks set up near the finale area because of the gusty winds.
"We fire the main battery close by and we don't want any sparks from the main battery, especially with the wind like this, to come over here and start the finale", said lead pyrotechnician, Seth Nels.
The show also featured a performance of patriotic songs by the Syracuse University Brass Ensemble and The Syracuse Symphony.
