Food Stamp benefits cut back to pre-recession levels
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Tens of millions of Americans who depend on Food Stamps have had their benefits get cut, going back to the same level as several years ago.
An average family of four who relies on Food Stamps will see their benefits reduced by $36 a month.
It will bring food stamp benefits back down to the level they were before the recession hit.
A temporary increase in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, commonly called Food Stamps, was enacted at that time, and expired Friday.
All together 47 million people will be affected and the cuts will add up to $5 billion.
