Washington, D.C. (WSYR-TV/CNN) – A winter storm that rolled through the Midwest on Tuesday reached the mid-Atlantic region on Wednesday and hit Washington, D.C.
Early weather reports indicated that the nation's capital would be inundated with snow.
Late in the afternoon, however, the projections were falling far short as snow barely accumulated in Washington.
Meanwhile, in nearby Virginia, the governor declared a state of emergency as more than 200,000 people lost power, according to
CNN.com.
On Tuesday,
multiple states in the Upper Midwest were inundated with snow, including Illinois, Minnesota, and North Dakota.
About six inches of snow accumulated in Chicago’s O’Hare Airport. Approximately 900 flights were canceled at O’Hare, while the Windy City’s other major airport, Midway, canceled 240 flights.
