Former Fort Drum soldier sentenced to 10 years in prison

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- A former Fort Drum soldier will spend the next ten years in prison for a high speed car chase.

Russell Marcum escaped custody at Fort Drum last fall, stole a car and led authorities on a chase through three counties.

He was already facing charges for burglary for breaking into storage units that belonged to fellow soldiers.

Marcum’s 10 year sentence was part of a plea deal.
