Nashville (WKRN-TV/WSYR-TV) - Former Syracuse University football player Keith Bulluck is charged with robbery after allegedly taking money from a cab driver early Sunday morning.
According to a police affidavit obtained by WKRN
, the cab driver was waiting outside a bar when a man handed him some money and told the driver to wait for him.
Police said Bulluck then walked up to the driver and asked for a ride.
The driver said he already had a fare. That is when Bulluck allegedly grabbed the driver's shirt and took a $100 bill from him.
Bulluck ran off before police caught up with him.Bulluck was arrested and charged with felony robbery and was released from jail on a $10,000 bond.
According to WKRN, the cab driver signed the arrest warrant charging Bulluck, not police.
That means the arrest was made based on what the driver said.
Bulluck said in a statement to WKRN, "I was out with friends last night in Nashville and was taking a cab home, there was a misunderstanding between me and the cab driver about getting my money back for a service not rendered. At 2 a.m., things could easily get lost in translation, but regardless of who was right or wrong, I regret putting myself in that situation."
Bulluck was drafted in the first round in the 2000 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans. He played with them from 2000 to 2009 and with the New York Giants in 2010.
He retired in 2012 as a member of the Tennessee Titans.
Bulluck is expected to appear in court September 26.
