Los Angeles (WSYR-TV) - Former WWE star Chris “The Masterpiece” Masters uprooted a tree to help free is mother from her burning home where she was trapped with a man whom ABC News describes as “apparently deranged.”
The 30-year-old former wrestler told ABC News that he went into “hero mode”
when he saw his mother in danger in her Los Angeles apartment.
Masters, whose real name is Chris Mordetzky, went to his mother’s apartment when he was tipped off by a telephone call referencing suspicious activity at the home his mother - Diane Mordetzky - shared with his uncle, Leo Taliaferro.
After a brief exchange with the man who had barricaded himself within the home in which Masters says he was “talking that madness,” smoke began to issue from underneath a door.
When police arrived, The 6-foot-4, 265-pound wrestler wrenched a tree from in front of his mother’s bedroom window while officers broke the glass.
Once the window was broken, Masters and police officers pulled his mother to safety. The ABC News report does not identify the man who barricaded himself in the home, but indicates that he was arrested.
Three police officers were injured during the incident. One was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
The other two were treated and released.
Masters sustained cuts to his arms.
