In search of spirits, ghost hunters Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, along with other paranormal investigators, toured the buildings of Fort Ontario.
Vice President CNY Ghost Hunters Caroline Lamie has been tracking paranormal activity at Fort Ontario where she's worked for years.
"On a daily basis you are always hearing footsteps behind you, seeing shadows in the window, see a ladies skirt go by the door. We get a child here a lot,” she said.
Historic site manager Paul Lear says Fort Ontario is one of the most historic, haunted places in North America.
Lear says they get a lot of requests from ghost hunters and hopes the show will shine a national and international spotlight on the Fort.
The stories date back centuries, as does the history of Fort Ontario. The fort was once a military hospital. It also housed officers and their families, and was later a refuge for Jews during WWII.
Stories range from seeing shadows, to hearing music and the smell of tobacco smoke, rumored to be that of a military sergeant who enjoyed his pipe.
When asked if she’s ever scared, she said, “It doesn’t bother me. There’s nothing bad here…We have friendly ghosts here at Fort Ontario.”
Fort Ontario also hosts ghost tours for the public near Halloween. Find out how to get tickets by CLICKING HERE
