Fulton (WSYR-TV) – A Fulton Police officer sustained a minor injury while chasing a burglary suspect early Monday morning.

Around 4:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a person entering cars around North Sixth and Fremont Streets. Police began looking around the area on foot and say they saw 23-year-old John Stoutenger inside a car with a flashlight.

When they tried to apprehend Stoutenger, he ran away. Police chased him a short distance, but an officer sustained a half inch laceration on his lip when he ran into a ladder near a shed.

Stoutenger, of South Third Street, was charged with assault in the second degree, a felony; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in the third degree, possession of burglar’s tools, and resisting arrest.

He was sent to the Oswego Public Safety Center in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
