Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Good Morning America Weekend is asking Dinosaur Bar-B-Que fans to come to the restaurant Sunday morning for a celebration and a chance to be on national television.

This comes after viewers of 'Good Morning America Weekend' voted Dinosaur Bar-B-Que's ribs the best in the country.

The results will be announced Sunday morning on 'Good Morning America' as the show goes live from the restaurant on Willow Street in downtown Syracuse. GMA is asking the restaurant's fan to come on out before 7 a.m. and cheer them on as they make their second national television appearance on the popular morning show.

Saturday, as most of us were in the middle of breakfast, GMA featured Dinosaur's ribs in a segment on the best barbecue restaurants in the country.  Dino was among four getting top honors in the unscientific pole.  Cousin's BBQ in Fort Worth Texas, Woody's Smoke Shack in Des Moines Iowa, and Archibald's Barbeque in Northpole Alabama also made the list.

The rest of the nation will soon learn something central New Yorkers have known for a very long time.

Downtown Syracuse's Dinosaur Bar-B-Que can cook up ribs and pulled pork that are out of this world. The restaurant will be featured Saturday on ‘Good Morning America’ as one of the top four barbecue joints in the nation.

ABC anchor Ron Claiborne taste-tested all of the top four barbecue finalists, making his stop at the Dinosaur on Wednesday.

“I've been to Cousins in Fort Worth, a chain of six there. Woody's in De Moines. A little shack called Archabal in Northport, Alabama -- and this is the final four here, Dinosaur,” Claiborne says.

Many people who wrote in and voted said they not only loved the food, but also the unique atmosphere at the East Willow Street barbecue joint.

Owner John Stage says while he's both humbled and thrilled by the honor, he's not too surprised Dinosaur topped the list.

“I can say I put a lot of love in our barbecue. We care, no compromise, no short cuts, just the real deal,” Stage says.

And South Dakota native Lisa Bilbo agrees.

“There's no comparison -- this is the best,” she says.

“Sunday morning, we’re going to unveil the best barbecue in America -- and Dinosaur has got a shot,” Clairborne says.

A very good shot, that is, at being named the number one barbecue joint in America.

The final side-by-side taste-testing will be done on Saturday during ‘Good Morning America.’
