ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Pipeline operators are turning attention to New York state with plans to carry low-cost natural gas from wells in Pennsylvania to customers in major Northeast markets such as New York City and Boston.

Plans for the $750 million pipeline have opponents suspicious that it's a sign the gas drilling technique known as hydraulic fracturing will soon be allowed in New York state. Gov. Andrew Cuomo is widely expected to issue a decision this month.

The pipeline's opponents are also predicting environmental damage, safety problems and land seizures through eminent domain.

The company proposing the pipeline says New York wells aren't factored into current plans.
