Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Not everyone has equal access to life-saving tests. There are countless numbers of men and women who can’t afford insurance, or are under-insured. On Wednesday, NewsChannel 9 helped you sign up for a number of free life-saving tests.
If you missed our show, you can still sign up for the tests by calling 464-8668.
NewsChannel 9 spoke to representatives from several health agencies across Central New York about an event that could save your life -- The “Get Health Connected” event.
“Get Health Connected” will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on September 15 at Dr. King Elementary School, located at 416 E. Raynor Avenue in Syracuse.
Adults – 18 and older – with little or no health insurance will have the opportunity to have their blood pressure and cholesterol checked. Vision tests will also be available, as well as screenings for sexually transmitted diseases and diabetes.
Screenings for breast, prostate and skin cancers are available for those who make advance appointments at the number listed above.
Pharmacists will also be on hand to stress the importance of keeping up with medications.
And if you don’t have insurance, someone will be able to assist you in enrolling in a public health plan.
