Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Google Maps Street View Car has been observed throughout the Syracuse area recently as it records images for its special maps feature.

A snapshot of the car was captured as it was driving down Bridge Street in East Syracuse on Tuesday morning.

Google has been recording images of US cities since 2007. Its cameras record street images in a 360 degree panoramic view.

The latest car has 15 lenses taking 360 degrees of photos. It also has motion sensors to track its position, a hard drive to store data, a small computer running the system, and lasers to capture 3D data to determine distances within the Street View imagery.
