Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - It's getting cold out and it doesn't look like the federal government will be sending any more money to help people pay their heating bill this winter.
Last year, Washington cut funding for the Home Energy Assistance Program, or HEAP. This year, funding is expected to stay the same.
Last year, more than 35,000 households received HEAP benefits.
Seniors over the age of 60 can now sign up for HEAP. Everyone else has to wait until November 19th.To see if you qualify for the assistance, click here.
