Cayuga County (WSYR-TV) – A boil water order for the village of Cayuga and the town of Aurelius water district 3 will remain in effect throughout the week.

The Cayuga County Health Department issued the order on March 3 when high turbidity levels in the northern end of Cayuga Lake were discovered. Turbidity is a measurement of water clarity.

The department says residents in the affected areas should boil water before using it for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation.

The department said it will update residents on the situation as it develops.
