Herkimer (WUTR-TV / WSYR-TV) - One week after four people were shot and killed by a gunman in Herkimer County, the district attorney says the shootings could have been even more deadly.

Herkimer County DA Jeff Carpenter says Kurt Myers had 50 additional rounds of ammunition in his possession while he was holed up in a vacant building on North Main Street in Herkimer.

According to state police, Myers was also was experiencing financial problems.

Officials say that could be a motive, but that there are still too many unanswered questions at this point.

Carpenter says the investigation could take months.
