Rome (WSYR-TV) – Rome Police arrested two people on drug charges early Wednesday morning, seizing heroin and crack in the process.

Officers executed a “no-knock search warrant” at 309 Cottage St. and recovered 434 bags of heroin and over one ounce of crack cocaine. They also found around $950 in cash.

Police estimate that the heroin’s street value would have been around $11,000.

They arrested 30-year-old Kia Robinson of 309 Cottage St., and 29-year-old Shamel Greene of 109 Gold St., Utica.

Both were charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

Rome Police say such arrests are about more than cleaning the streets of drugs.

“You see an increase in crime with it. The burglaries, the shoplifting, it all goes hand in hand. You know, people trying to support an addiction to a substance that they are looking to fill everyday,” said Detective Tim Bates.
