Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Destiny USA also kicked off its Black Friday earlier than usual. It’s the first time that all the stores in the mall were open at midnight.
Full of turkey and anticipation, shoppers lined up for hours outside the stores to be the first to get the best deals on their must-haves of the season.
The crowds took advantage of the early start with a game plan in mind even before the shopping frenzy began.
“I’m on top of all the Black Friday deals. I pre-game, got all the emails and coupon books so I prepare myself,” said shopper Shawna Ranauro.
And all that planning and waiting seemed to pay off.
“The first 50 people got a coupon you’re guaranteed 60 percent off and it could be up to a free pair of shoes,” said Jennifer Town who stood in line for the best Black Friday deals. “I just like Black Friday. I like all the people and fighting for your stuff. It’s kind of fun.”
When it comes to sacrificing sleep and braving the crowds, it’s worth it for some, but not everyone.
“It’s my first time, so I guess I’m doing it for the experience, but it’s not worth it,” said first time Black Friday shopper Jerryka Pizarro Lopez.
Destiny USA is open until 10 on Black Friday.
