Holland Patent student dies after Tuesday accident

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – A Rome teenager is dead after a Tuesday morning accident in the town of Floyd.

16-year-old Anusha Yagey was riding in a 2005 Ford Taurus driven by 17-year-old Joseph Yagey when it collided with a box truck on State Route 365.

The brothers were on their way to Holland Patent High School.

Anusha Yagey was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital and then transferred to Upstate University Hospital where he was listed in critical condition, according to State Police.

Hospital staff confirmed on Wednesday morning that he died. They did not indicate at what time Anusha Yagey passed away.

Joseph Yagey was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital. Police said the 17-year-old’s injuries were not life threatening.

The box truck driver was not injured.

Police did not indicate whether tickets would be issued as a result of the accident.
