ATLANTA (AP) - This year, the memory of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and the life of President Barack Obama will overlap significantly for a day.

For only the second time, the presidential inauguration falls on the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Some King commemorations are being shuffled while others are going forth Monday as they do every year. Friends and family of the slain civil rights leader say the intersection of the two events adds value to both.

U.S. Rep. John Lewis worked alongside King in the fight for civil rights. He says it is fitting and appropriate for the two to fall on the same day.

King's youngest daughter, Bernice King, says she thinks it will heighten people's awareness of her father's work and the King holiday.
