Oneida (WSYR-TV) -- An Oneida County Correctional Facility inmate has been charged with assault after officials say he injured a correction officer while fleeing from a medical appointment last month.

According to the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Shaun Andrews, of Brooklyn, ran from his appointment towards the main jail hallway. That’s when officials say Andrews physically charged the officer, driving his knee into the flooring.

Andrews was eventually taken down by assisting staff members.

Andrews will be arraigned at a later date.
