Syracuse (WSYR-TV/CNN) – Authorities are still investigating an incident in which a woman drove her car into a barricade outside the White House and then led police on a chase before being shot outside the Capitol building. CNN reports that medications to treat schizophrenia and depression
were found in 34-year-old Miriam Carey’s Stamford, Conn., apartment.
Other investigators have been talking to Carey’s relatives in Brooklyn as they try to determine what led to the Thursday-afternoon incident.
On Thursday, Carey rammed her vehicle into a barricade outside the White House with a 1-year-old child in her car.
When police officers surrounded her vehicle with guns drawn, Carey sped off with police vehicles in pursuit.
Shortly afterward, police shot Carey multiple times, killing her.
According to CNN, Carey’s friends and loved ones had previously voiced concerns about her mental condition.
