Cortland (WSYR-TV) -- It may seem like the Jets just got to Cortland, but they're just about ready to pack up and head home. Wednesday was the team’s last public practice.
They’ll hold their final practice on Thursday. That practice will not be open to the public.
Fans NewsChannel 9 spoke with on Wednesday are happy they had one more chance to catch a glimpse of their favorite team.
“To see it so close, it really was exciting because I’ve never seen them in person before. I’ve always seen them on TV playing football,” said Binghamton Jets fan Demeteri Diamantakos.
Another Jets fan from Yonkers, Shiela Rice, told NewsChannel 9, “It's the first time we've come to Cortland. We always go to New Jersey and Long Island. Very good experience, I got some autographs from Mark Sanchez, Tebow, they came to the fans, it was great, better than I expected."
Jets fans will leave with more than just memories. Ricardo Rodriguez, a Jets fan from Miami, collected autographs from March Sanchez, Jordan White and Nick Folk.
Just about everyone around here is chalking this up to another great training camp with the NY Jets and wishing them a great season and waiting until they come back next year.
Last season the NFL lockout prevented the Jest from training in Cortland. But both times the Jets held camp there they went on to play in the AFC Championship game.
