Tully (WSYR-TV) - A retired Syracuse firefighter and his wife who have devoted their lives to adopting and raising more than a dozen children got to see the results of their home’s makeover on Monday morning.

Diana and Dave Johnson are known for the immense love and support they give to their 17 children and 12 foster children. The community decided to give that support back by renovating their entire home.

A benefit was held by the Syracuse Fire Department to raise money the Johnson Family Home Project.

55 volunteers, including firefighters and community members, helped work on the makeover.

Work on the home began in April.
