Judge stops NYC sugary drink ban
New York (CNN/WSYR-TV) -- New York's ban on big, sugary soft drinks fizzled out the day before it was set to kick in.
A state judge invalidated the law on Monday afternoon - just hours before it was set to go into effect.
The ban limited the size of a drink to no more than 16 ounces in an effort to reduce obesity rates.
Mayor Michael Bloomberg's office tweeted its plans to appeal the decision.
