Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - The New York State Police announce the death of K-9 named after a trooper who died in the line of duty.
Dillon, a bloodhound, was 11-years-old at the time of his death.
He was named after the late Emerson Dillon, a trooper who was shot and killed after stopping a suspicious vehicle
on the Thruway near Canastota on October 24, 1974.
Troopers say the canine was assigned to the New York State Fair detail from 2002 to 2010 and was involved in major cases throughout the state, responding to nearly 500 service calls.
