EAST SYRACUSE, NY (WSYR-TV) - More than 500 gymnasts from across New York tumbled their way through a very special competition to benefit the Jim and Juli Boeheim Foundation.
It was held at GC2 Gymnastics in East Syracuse on Sunday.
Juli Boeheim, Otto the Orange and the SU Cheerleaders were all on hand to support the athletes who raised money through donations, raffles and silent auctions.
GC2 Gymnastics typically turns one meet a year into a fundraiser. The emphasis is always on giving back.
"It's nice to see that no matter how big, how small the donation is, the kids really get excited just to help, because they're helping other kids. They don't know what exactly they're helping other kids do, but in their minds they're helping other kids just like them and it really motivates them to do more,” said organizer Emily Stephen.
The competition aimed to raise between $5,500 and $7,500 for kids in the community and to help in the fight against cancer.
