A frosty start for many central New Yorkers Tuesday morning. The official low at Hancock Field was 32 degrees just before 4:30 AM and that tied a the record of 32 set in 1944. In addition, it was the 4th latest frost in Syracuse history. Here are some of the other lows around the area:
| Redfield | 25 |
| Locke | 26 |
| Norwich | 28 |
| Tully | 30 |
| Ithaca | 30 |
The last couple of night's served as a perfect example the difference a layer of clouds makes. No clouds last night and we get to 32, Sunday night/Monday morning we have clouds and the low is only 40 degrees. The good news is it looks like we are done with frost. In fact, we are in for a quick warm up. I was looking at a map of high temperatures from Monday and it showed upper 80 to 90 degree warmth building east into the Plains. This is the kind of warmth that is going to try to show up in central New york for the middle of the week. It's not all that unusual coming on the heels of the late frost. I looked back at past late May frosts and 2 times out of the 8 examples I found featured a warm up into the 80s just one day later.
