Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- Onondaga County lawmakers have approved a deal in which Alliance Bank Stadium will be leased to the Syracuse Chiefs, who will have an option to buy the stadium for $2.8 million.

"The legislators talked about the investment that the ball club put in and we're free of that debt. The ball club has no debt and going forward we're going to put a lot of dollars back into the facility with this new lease,” Chiefs General Manager, John Simone told NewsChannel 9.

The Chiefs say plans are already in the works for the stadium’s scoreboard and they hope to have a new board ready by opening day.
