SYRACUSE, (WSYR-TV) – Le Moyne College held a candlelight vigil on Sunday night for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings and ensuing search for the suspects.
Junior Meghan Sheehan organized and led the vigil with a tear-filled thank you, as her father was one of the many law enforcement officers in Boston who rushed toward the danger to help.
Sheehan said she spent the past week flipping through coverage of the Boston bombings and the deadly manhunt that followed, looking for her father in the crowd. He is a member of Boston’s swat team.
“He wasn't able to talk too much about it. When he was free he'd be able to text me and more to just reassure me that he's safe and he's doing everything he can and when he can talk to me he'll talk to me but for now he's safe and not to worry,” said Sheehan. "I'm really proud of him. It must have been really hard to go through everything he went through. He stayed strong throughout the whole thing and didn't pick sides but knew what he was fighting for.”
