Liverpool man accused of raping victim in Phoenix

Oswego (WSYR-TV) – A Liverpool man has been jailed without bail in Oswego after being accused of rape.

The alleged incident occurred in July 2005 in the village of Phoenix. 42-year-old Joseph Stefanovich of Vine Street was arrested on Thursday.

According to the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Stefanovich forced his victim into a wooded area and then forced the person into sexual intercourse.

Stefanovich was arraigned in Town of Scriba Court and taken to the Oswego County Jail.

He is scheduled to appear in Town of Schroeppel Court on Feb. 6.
