Liverpool (WSYR-TV) – Middle school students and staff gathered at the Liverpool Community Church Friday morning for an event to raise money to fight cancer.

Teacher Micah Shippee noted that such events are important for students to see.

“Even when things are going on in a poor economy – I mean with schools under construction and the cuts on the board, the kids understand that community involvement and helping those around us because we have the ability to is our responsibility,” said teacher Micah Shippee.

Teachers and faculty members competed on the basketball court. The “LMS Vs. Cancer” event has been held for the last 10 years.

The event raises money for the American Cancer Society and also for the Jim and Julie Boeheim Foundation.
